Firehawks Claim Fourth Place at Firehawk Invitational

Ewoi leads UTS with 17th-place finish; Deaton, Andrea, Vizina, and Bernard round out scoring

OAKVILLE, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's cross country team hosted the Firehawk Invitational on Saturday at Oakville Indian Mounds Park, welcoming a large and competitive field to North Alabama. UAB captured the team title with a balanced performance at the front of the race, while the Firehawks placed fourth overall with several strong individual efforts.

Freshman Linah Ewoi was the top finisher for UT Southern, clocking a time of 23:20.79 over the 6K course to place 17th overall and secure valuable points for the Firehawks. She was followed closely by Claire Deaton (25th, 24:13.99), Alyssa Andrea (28th, 24:21.17), Emma Vizina (32nd, 24:41.87), and Lou-Anne Bernard (40th, 25:12.03) to round out the scoring five. Additional finishers included Amelia Worsley (54th, 26:08.06), Lauren Hallmark (62nd, 27:05.91), Neidyn Lopez-Hernandez (67th, 27:21.11), Cierra Arnold (71st, 27:35.96), Addi Moore (79th, 28:41.14), and Olivia Barksdale (97th, 30:58.65).

UT Southern scored 128 points, tying with Wallace State for fourth place in the team standings, and placed ahead of conference rivals Dalton State and Faulkner.

The Firehawks will now turn their attention to a highly competitive field at the Florida State Invitational, scheduled for September 26 in Tallahassee, Fla. The event will serve as another key test for UT Southern as the season continues to build toward championship racing.
