GREENVILLE, Ala. – The UT Southern men's golf team turned in a strong showing at the 2026 SSAC Men's Golf Championship, finishing tied for second overall at +24 (302–296–290) at RTJ Cambrian Ridge.
The Firehawks saved their best round for last, firing a tournament-best 290 in the final round to surge up the leaderboard and finish tied with Point, just five shots behind Dalton State for the conference title.
Individually, Jack Brockie delivered a standout performance, finishing as a co-medalist at 2-under-par 214 (70–69–75). Brockie's opening two rounds of 70 and 69 positioned him atop the leaderboard entering the final day, ultimately tying for first before falling in a sudden-death playoff.
Nathan Calahan also earned All-Tournament honors with a tie for fifth at 3-over 219 (76–74–69). Calahan closed with a strong final-round 69, one of the lowest rounds of the day, helping power the Firehawks' late surge.
Tyler Wilson added a solid performance, tying for 16th at 11-over 227 with rounds of 80–74–73, improving each day of the championship.
Lucca Olocco and Ramon Izquierdo each tied for 22nd overall at 13-over 229. Olocco posted rounds of 79–75–75, while Izquierdo carded 78–80–71, highlighted by a strong closing round.
Max Brown rounded out the Firehawks' scoring lineup, finishing 43rd with rounds of 81–83–86 (250).
In addition to the on-course success, UT Southern was well represented in the conference's postseason honors announced during championship week.
CJ Bega, Angelo Bidart, Jack Brockie, Nathan Calahan, Luke Mattox, Lucca Olocco, Sergio Torrero Moreno, and Tyler Wilson were all named to the SSAC Athletic Solutions All-Academic Team, highlighting the program's commitment to excellence in the classroom.
Ethan Lunsford was recognized on the SSAC Champions of Character Team, representing UT Southern for his leadership, integrity, and sportsmanship throughout the season.
UT Southern's balanced lineup and final-round push secured one of the program's strongest finishes at the SSAC Championship, placing two golfers on the All-Tournament Team and firmly establishing the Firehawks among the conference's top contenders.
The Firehawks now await postseason selections as their strong championship performance caps a competitive spring season.
