MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's golf team has been selected fifth in the 2026-27 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Men's Golf Coaches' Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference office.
The Firehawks earned 78 points in the voting, placing them fifth among the conference's 11 men's golf programs and positioning UT Southern as a contender in one of the NAIA's most competitive golf conferences.
Entering his seventh season at the helm of the program, head coach John Dochety and the Firehawks will look to build upon their recent success as they prepare for a challenging conference slate. UT Southern's fifth-place selection places the Firehawks ahead of Faulkner, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Loyola, Mobile, Andrew, and Brewton-Parker in the preseason rankings.
Dalton State topped the poll with 120 points and 10 first-place votes after winning 10 of the last 11 SSAC Men's Golf Championships. Blue Mountain and William Carey rounded out the top three spots, while Point finished just ahead of UT Southern in fourth place.
The Firehawks' placement in the preseason poll reflects the respect the program has earned from coaches throughout the conference and provides a strong foundation as UT Southern begins preparations for the 2026-27 campaign.
The 2027 SSAC Men's Golf Championship is scheduled for April 19-21 at RTJ Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Alabama. For the second consecutive year, the championship will be streamed live on the Urban Edge Network.
