MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2026 SSAC Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete Team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, with UT Southern's Luke Mattox earning recognition among the conference's top student-athletes.
Mattox was named to the 2026 SSAC Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete Team after another strong season both academically and competitively for the Firehawks. The junior from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, played a key role in UT Southern's success throughout the year, including the Firehawks' runner-up finish at the 2026 SSAC Men's Golf Championship.
Point's Jacob Joseph was named the 2026 SSAC Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year after the senior financial management major posted a 3.65 GPA. Joseph also captured the individual title at the 2026 SSAC Men's Golf Championship and earned First-Team All-Conference honors.

Additional Notes
- Riddle led the group with a 3.93 GPA, while Lambert posted a 3.85 GPA
- Riddle earned First-Team All-Conference honors, while Gray received Second-Team recognition
- To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, and compete in at least 50 percent of competitions
- Graduate students and transfers must have completed one semester at their institution before eligibility
