DECATUR, Ala. – Tennessee Southern softball was well represented in the 2026 Southern States Athletic Conference postseason awards, highlighted by a major individual honor and multiple all-conference selections.
Leading the way for the Firehawks, Alaina Grace King was named the SSAC Freshman of the Year, capping off a standout debut season. King made an immediate impact in the lineup, hitting .406 with 15 extra-base hits and 38 RBIs, establishing herself as one of the top young players in the conference.
UT Southern placed three student-athletes on the First-Team All-Conference, with Mikayla McCain (C), Alaina Grace King (INF), and Ella Singletary (UTIL) earning top honors. The trio played pivotal roles throughout the season, contributing both offensively and defensively for the Firehawks.
Four additional Firehawks earned Second-Team All-Conference recognition, including Emory Hall (OF), Haley McDaniel (OF), Marie Bodily (OF), and Hannah Lindsey (INF), showcasing the depth and consistency of UT Southern's lineup.
Defensively, UT Southern was recognized on the Gold Glove Team with Carley Cook (1B) and Hannah Lindsey (3B) earning honors for their fielding excellence.
The Firehawks also placed two players on the All-Freshman Team, as King was joined by Emory Hall, highlighting the program's strong young core.
In the classroom, UT Southern had an impressive showing on the Athletic Solutions All-Academic Team, with the following student-athletes recognized: Sofia Bodily, Jayci Boozer, Emma Cornelius, Evi Edwards, Stella Gilbreath, Emma McBride, Mikayla McCain, Haley McDaniel, Alyssa Mosley, and Lauren Pettie.
The collection of honors reflects a balanced effort across the roster, with UT Southern showcasing excellence in performance, defense, and academics during the 2026 season as the Firehawks head into postseason play.
