MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's golf team has been selected to finish tied for third in the 2026-27 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Women's Golf Coaches' Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

The Firehawks received 44 points in the voting and share the third position with Loyola University New Orleans, placing behind only Dalton State and William Carey in the preseason rankings.

Entering the 2026-27 campaign, UT Southern continues to earn recognition among the SSAC's top programs and is poised to build on its success under head coach John Dochety. The Firehawks are one of just four programs projected to finish in the top half of the conference standings and enter the season with aspirations of contending near the top of the league standings throughout the year.

UT Southern's placement in the preseason poll highlights the continued growth of the program and reflects the respect the Firehawks have garnered from coaches across the conference heading into the new season.

The 2027 SSAC Women's Golf Championship is scheduled for April 26-28 at RTJ Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Alabama. For the second consecutive year, the championship will be streamed live on the Urban Edge Network.
