Myhrinder Records Top-10 Finish to Lead UT Southern at Purdue

UT Southern Opened its Fall Schedule Against a Competitive NAIA Field, Finishing Eighth at Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The University of Tennessee Southern women's golf team opened its 2026 fall campaign this week at the Wildcat Fall Invitational, turning in an eighth-place finish at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex on the campus of Purdue University.

Competing against several nationally recognized NAIA programs, the Firehawks posted a 54-hole team score of 940 (318-308-314). UT Southern showed improvement throughout the event, trimming 10 strokes from its opening-round score during the second round and remaining within striking distance of several teams throughout the tournament.

Leading the Firehawks was Elsa Myhrinder, who delivered one of the tournament's top individual performances. Myhrinder finished tied for sixth place with a three-round total of 225, ending the event at 9-over par. After opening the tournament with an 81, the Firehawk standout responded with rounds of 71 and 73, including a second-round 71 that was one of the best scores recorded in the field.

Myhrinder's strong finish placed her among a five-way tie for sixth and just eight strokes behind co-medalists Eleanor Schuitema of Taylor and Yunyi Luo of SCAD Savannah, who each finished at 1-over par.

Maryssa Phillips added a solid performance for UT Southern, tying for 32nd with a 236 total after rounds of 79, 74, and 83. Harper Quick was close behind, finishing tied for 34th at 237 with rounds of 78, 79, and 80.

Nike Fransson rounded out the top four scorers for the Firehawks, carding a 243 to tie for 40th place, while Savannah Sandlin completed the team lineup with a 249, good for a tie for 44th.

SCAD Savannah captured the team championship with a score of 906, while Dalton State and Marian (Ind.) shared second place at 908. Indiana Wesleyan finished fourth at 909, followed by Cumberland (913), Taylor (919), Pikeville (938), UT Southern (940), and Midway (959).
