- 1963-1965: Attended Martin Junior College on an Honor Scholarship
- 1963-1964: First athlete to letter in three sports at Martin Junior college (Basketball- guard/forward, Baseball- starting 3rd baseman and pitcher, Golf- MVP 1964 season)
- 1964-1965: Injured knee during basketball season; Started at third base and as a pitcher in baseball; Played number two in golf behind Hall of Famer Dee Bennett, Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa
After Graduation
- 1968: Graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Major in Mathematics and a Minor in English and Marketing
- 1969-1972: Teacher at Eagleville High School, Tennessee
- 1974: Received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from YMCA Night Law School (now Nashville School of Law); Passed Bar exam and admitted to practice in  1974; Opened law office in Murfreesboro in 1875
- 1991-1997: Served on the Board of Directors for the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee
- 1995: Received the Cecil G. Gilliam Award for Volunteerism
- 2001: Elected to the Rutherford County "Old Timers" Baseball Hall of Fame
- 1977- Present: President of Stones River Motors
