MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced its 2025 Men's Soccer Players of the Week, presented by WinWon, and UT Southern's Louis Hester has been named the SSAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 29 – Oct. 5.
Hester, a senior goalkeeper from High Wycombe, England, earns his first-career SSAC weekly honor following a standout performance that helped the Firehawks deliver one of the biggest wins of the season.
The veteran keeper recorded a five-save shutout in UT Southern's 2-0 victory over No. 1 Dalton State, snapping the Roadrunners' 37-game unbeaten streak and ending a 50-game home unbeaten streak. Hester then turned away eight shots in a narrow 2-1 loss to No. 19 Life, with the winning goal coming on a late penalty kick.
Hester's leadership and consistency in net have been key to the Firehawks' defensive success this season, as he continues to anchor one of the top backlines in the SSAC.
UT Southern returns to action Wednesday, October 9, hosting Point University at Grissom Pitch.
