MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Bruno Villazon of UT Southern was named SSAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Ronaldo Andrews of William Carey (Miss.) was named SSAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
The awards are based on performance for the week of March 10-16.
Bruno Villazon (UT Southern – FR – Santander City, Spain)
- This is his first-career outdoor honor
- Villazon finished 3rd out of 40 runners in the 5,000m with a time of 15:07.51 in the largely NCAA field
- His time currently paces the SSAC
Ronaldo Andrews (William Carey – SO – Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines)
- This is his first-career outdoor honor
- Andrews won the triple jump (14.93m) at the Jaguar Invitational with a NAIA "B" qualifying mark
- The sophomore also finished 2nd in the long jump at 7.08m
