MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2026 SSAC Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week for the week of March 16–22, with UT Southern's Luis Guilherme Cupertino de Santana earning SSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors.

Cupertino de Santana, a senior from Salvador, Brazil, collects his fourth career weekly honor following a dominant all-around performance for the Firehawks.

Competing at the top of the lineup, he posted a perfect 5-0 record in singles play across the No. 1 and No. 2 positions while also going 4-1 at No. 2 doubles during a busy week of competition.

Among his standout performances, Cupertino de Santana earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Mobile's Callum Dickson, who is ranked No. 52 in the ITA. He also delivered an impressive comeback win over William Carey's Islam Orynbassar, the 2025 SSAC Player of the Year, with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 decision.

Cupertino de Santana continues to lead the Firehawks with consistent production at the top of the lineup as UT Southern pushes through conference play.

With the honor, he becomes a multi-time winner this season for UT Southern, joining teammate Gaspar Audisio as Firehawks to earn SSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week recognition in 2026.
