KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For just the second time in the last six years, the Martin Methodist Women's Tennis team is now ranked as it checked in at No. 23 in Tuesday's edition of the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced.
OFFICIAL NAIA RELEASE
The RedHawks (7-9) jumped into the Top 25 for the first time this season after they won three of their last five matches, highlighted by a 5-4 victory at then-No. 20 SCAD Atlanta on March 31. The RedHawks suffered a hard-fought 5-4 loss to No. 4 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on March 23.
Four of the RedHawk losses this season have come to NCAA Division I or Division II competition and the other five defeats have come at the hands of programs ranked in the NAIA's Top 25.
The RedHawks were ranked in the Top 25 briefly during the 2018 season, but prior to that had not broken into the Top 25 since Feb. 19, 2013.
The RedHawks return to action this Friday, April 12, when they travel to Dalton, Georgia for a neutral-site showdown versus No. 8 Middle Georgia State.
