MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The University of Tennessee Southern women's tennis team has been selected fifth in the 2027 Southern States Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Coaches' Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference office.
The Firehawks received 17 points in the preseason voting, finishing just behind Mobile and ahead of Blue Mountain and Abraham Baldwin in the seven-team conference.
Defending conference champion William Carey was voted the league favorite with 47 points and five first-place votes. Xavier followed closely in second with 43 points and two first-place votes, while Loyola rounded out the top three.
UT Southern will look to build on its preseason ranking throughout the 2027 campaign as the Firehawks compete for positioning heading into postseason play.

The 2027 SSAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championships are scheduled for April 14-17 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama. All seven conference programs will qualify for the postseason tournament.
