MMC Tennis Garners Awards Heading into MSC Tournament

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The 2021 Mid-South Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Champions of Character and All-Academic teams have been released, conference officials announced on Wednesday.

The MSC recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA.

Representing Martin Methodist for the men's team is Eduardo Costa (SR/Viseu, Portugal), while Emely Castro (SO/London, England) is the women's representative.

The MSC also announced the All-Academic team for both men and women. In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

Castro, along with Margaret Lucas (SO/Decatur, Alabama) and Leovanna Viamonte (FR/Weston, Fla.), were named to the women's All-Academic team.

Costa also earned All-Academic honors for the men, and was joined by Richand Hoyte (SO/Glen, St. Vincent), Corey Jones (SO/Pisgah, Mississippi), and Manuel Rodilla (SR/La Coruna, Spain).

MMC heads to the MSC Tournament, set to begin on Thursday, April 15 for the women, and Friday, April 16 for the men.
